A group of photographers from across the globe have joined together under the banner of Photos For Japan, organising fine art print charity auctions in aid of the relief effort in Japan following the earthquake and tsunami in the country.
Having read details of and watched footage from the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, a worldwide group of amateur and professional photographers decided that they simply must try and do something to help.
From that, Photos For Japan was born, with individual photographers offering limited edition fine art prints for sale in order to raise funds to help.
All artists involved have agreed to give the proceeds to the Japan Earthquake And Tsunami Relief Fund, organized by the Global Giving Foundation. This project will disburse funds to parties providing relief and emergency services to victims of the earthquake and tsunami. GlobalGiving is working with International Medical Corps, Save the Children, and other organizations on the ground.
The Photos For Japan project is co-ordinated through a single website (http://www.photosforjapan.org/ ), with individual auctions taking place through eBay. All funds are collected directly by eBay themselves, and passed direct to the charity.
Photos For Japan would also like to invite photographers of all ages and abilities to join in by offering one or more prints for sale. Full instructions for participation are available from the project website.
