A photograph of pop star Britney Spears (pictured right) failed to find a buyer at an auction in London this afternoon.
The news comes just weeks before Spears launches her ‘comeback’ album, on 2 December.
The image of a fresh-faced Britney Spears, aged 17, had been expected to sell for £15,000-20,000.
It was captured by photographer David LaChapelle for Rolling Stone magazine in 1999.
Kate Moss out-performed Spears in the auction at Christie’s, King Street.
An ‘oversized’ crouching nude of Moss, shot in 1993 by Albert Watson, sold for £16,250.
Last year Britney Spears used her website to publicly apologise for attacking a paparazzi photographer’s car with an umbrella.
