The Photokina show was the launchpad for five lenses from Sigma, four of which are designed for the Four Thirds digital SLR system.
Among the newcomers are an 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS image stabilising lens (pictured). Exclusively designed for use on digital SLRs the lens includes two aspherical elements, as well as two Special Low Dispersion glass elements.
The 18-200mm boasts Sigma?s Optical Stabiliser (OS) whereby two sensors inside the lens aim to detect vertical and horizontal movement and help reduce camera shake. A UK price is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile the Four Thirds newcomers are an 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro whose features include a maximum magnification of 1:3. It will cost £369.99 and we understand that this lens will also be available in a non-Four Thirds fit for Sigma AF, Sony AF, Nikon AF, Canon AF and Pentax AF.
The other Four Thirds compatible lenses are a 24mm f/1.8 EX DG Aspherical Macro costing £299.99; a 135-400mm f/4.5-5.6 APO DG lens carrying a £479.99 pricetag; and a 300-800mm f/5.6 EX DG APO HSM telephoto which will hit stores costing a penny under £5,000.
Sigma now has 11 Four Thirds lenses in its range.
Availability dates for the new lenses were yet to be confirmed at the time of writing.
