MPs just managed to outnumber peers in the line-up of winning pictures in this year?s Jessops Parliamentary Photographic Competition. The chosen images – selected by judges including AP?s Mike Maloney ? were captured by three MPs and two peers.
Commenting on the contest ? which attracted 110 entries ? Mike Maloney OBE said: ?This is the fifth year of the competition and, as always, the standard of entries was extremely impressive. Photographic talent clearly flourishes in Westminster.?
Among the winners was Austin Mitchell, chairman of the Parliamentary All Party Photography Group with a picture entitled On the Face of it.
?Members of both Houses are often photographed for newspapers and magazines so once a year it?s great to have the opportunity to show what we can do from the other side of the camera,? commented Austin who is the Labour MP for Great Grimsby.
MPs Andrew Miller and Gerald Howarth were also among the finalists, as were former NATO Secretary General Lord Robertson and Viscount Allenby, representing the House of Lords.
