A two-week trip to Mozambique and South Africa goes to the winner of this year?s Travel Photographer of the Year competition which boasts £50,000 worth of prizes.

Open to amateurs and professionals the contest boasts four portfolio categories: Streetlife; Iconic; North of 30 Degrees; and Wild. Prizes in these categories include trips to Thailand, Sri Lanka, India and Brazil and kit such as a Hasselblad H2 and Mamiya 7II cameras.

There is also a single image which challenges entrants to capture the ?colour, movement, culture, eccentricity, history, sounds and smell of a festival?. The winner of this section receives prizes which include a seven-day trip to the Bahamas.

It cost £5 to enter the single image category and £5 for each portfolio section.

The photographer who scores the highest number of points across two portfolio categories will be awarded the title Travel Photographer of the Year 2006.

Meanwhile, there is a Young Travel Photographer of the Year which is open to photographers aged 16 and under who are asked to submit four images on the theme Wish You Were Here. Prizes include an HP Photosmart 8450 printer and HP Scanjet 4890 photo scanner. Entry to this category is free.
