The enduring image of the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers in New York has been voted the ?most impactful international news picture of the past 30 years?, according to a UK survey.
Around nine out of ten people named the Twin Towers shot as the world?s most memorable picture, in a survey of more than 2,200 UK adults conducted by Sony Ericsson.
The attack on the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001 beat pictures showing the aftermath of the car crash that killed Princess Diana and the toppling of Saddam Hussein?s statue.
Ellen MacArthur?s round the world voyage and David Beckham?s sending off during a World Cup game against Argentina in 1998 were voted the sports images with the most impact, each winning 21% of the votes.
