Photography enthusiasts have been barred from entering a contest organised by the Garden Photographers? Association (GPA) despite the organisation?s website stating it is open to professionals and ?aspiring professionals?.

The GPA denied it has changed the rules for this year?s contest which, according to a statement released to AP today, is open to professionals, photography students and photography assistants – but not amateurs,

However, it is unclear whether amateurs will be allowed to enter because the statement added: ?The association is at present considering extending the scope of the competition by allowing amateur photographers to enter as well.?

The contest boasts £10,000 in prizes.
