AP?s editor Damien Demolder last night won Writer of the Year in awards held by AP?s publisher IPC Media – a group that owns close to 100 magazines, including top-flight titles such as NME, Marie Claire, Country Life and Loaded.
Damien, who also scooped technical journalism awards in 2002 and 2004, won Writer of the Year in the special interest magazine category.
Damien received his award from comedian Rob Brydon who co-hosted the awards ceremony with IPC?s editorial development director Andy Cowles.
Announcing the award judges described Damien as an ?excellent? winner in a ?hard fought? category. They added: ?This writer has the ability to make complex material easy to understand while leaving no fact unturned. He embodies the title and shows an incredible contribution, benefiting the brand on every level.?
Damien said of the award: ?I?m honoured to receive this award and pleased that our efforts have been recognised amongst the bigger national brands IPC owns. The award really reflects the work of the whole AP team though, as it is the editing and design departments that make me look good and sound literate.?
