Photography enthusiasts are urged to take part in a digital photography competition that aims to build ? via an online gallery – ?a digital picture? of Britain in 2005.
Organised by the BBC, the aim is to produce images of urban, rural and industrial landscapes.
All pictures must have been taken with a digital camera or camera phone and be submitted to one of eight regional categories and one of three themed categories. The themed categories are: rural landscape, urban landscape and human landscape (wind turbines on a rural hillside, for example).
Winners of the regional categories and themed categories will scoop photographic equipment worth around £500. The best images will be chosen by a panel of ?top photographers?, say organisers.
Pictures must be submitted to www.bbc.co.uk/apictureofbritain before 31 July.
Copyright will remain with the photographer though the BBC says it reserves the right to publicly display all entries and publish the images to promote the BBC and/or the competition.
The project runs alongside a new TV series called A Digital Picture of Britain due to be screened on BBC4 on 5 June (scheduled to begin at 10pm). The show will feature renowned photographers such as Eamonn McCabe.
