BBC TV’s Newsnight has urged its viewers to send in digital images that depict how their life has changed since the onset of the recession.

The best pictures will be shown on the Newsnight website and on a special programme on 15 September.

Newsnight will mark the first anniversary of the stock market crash that sent us on a path to global recession,’ reads a newsletter emailed to subscribers this afternoon.

‘We will be broadcasting a special programme looking at how those tumultuous events have changed the world over the past year – and we want to know how you were affected too.’

Images could, suggest programme makers, show ‘your first crop of home-grown tomatoes, or you poring over the classifieds in search of a new job, or your “staycation” summer holiday…’.
