Staff at high street chain Boots refused to print a customer?s photos because they wrongly suspected they were professional shots illegally downloaded from the internet.
Photography student Joanna Ornowska was turned away by a store in Coventry when she asked staff to print portraits of her best friend.
?The staff at the shop said they looked professional and that I needed to write a letter with headed paper to show who I am, but I didn?t have any,? Joanna told the Daily Mail newspaper
?The staff said that they didn?t believe that I?d taken them. It was crazy. Should I start taking very bad photos to be able to get them printed.?
It has been reported that Boots staff were concerned they would infringe copyright by printing the photos.
A Boots spokeswoman admitted the store?s blunder when contacted by Amateur Photographer earlier today.
However, the incident begs the question as to whether Boots allows its staff to refuse the printing of photos it suspects have been taken by someone other than the customer who brings them in.
Boots has said it will issue a full statement to Amateur Photographer shortly.
