Shajul Islam, 26, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court this morning.
Photographer John Cantlie and journalist Jeroen Oerlemans were held between 17 July and 26 July.
Islam is accused, with others, of ‘unlawfully and injuriously’ imprisoning the pair ‘against their will’, contrary to Section 63B of the Terrorism Act 2000.
Islam was arrested along with a woman at Heathrow Airport on 9 October after arriving on a flight from Egypt.
The woman, also 26, was yesterday released without charge, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
