Ilford Photo has hit out at an article published in the Independent on Sunday on 26 June which claimed that the b&w giant had ?disappeared? in the wake of the digital revolution.
The company moved quickly to reassure consumers, retailers and distributors that it is alive and kicking with its future ?never more secure?.
The article in the Independent on Sunday said: ?Britain?s Ilford, once a world-class maker of black & white photographic materials, has already failed?? It went on to suggest that Ilford had disappeared.
A spokesman for Ilford Photo described the statement as ?totally inaccurate and unfounded? and said that the newspaper has agreed to publish a correction.
Ilford recently confirmed that it will continue to make paper, film and chemicals and announced that production is up to full capacity, four months after it was brought back to life in a management buy-out.
Ilford Photo was formed earlier this year after Ilford Imaging Ltd went into receivership.
There is no reference to Ilford in the online version of the article that currently appears on The Independent website.
