Canon has produced its 30 millionth EOS SLR and announced that 10m of these cameras were made in the past four years alone.
The first camera in the EOS system was the EOS 650, a film-based model launched in March 1987 (pictured).
?It was the introduction of the EOS 300D in May 2003 that turned digital SLR photography into a mass market phenomenon,? said a Canon spokesman.
Canon adds that the sub-?1000 pricetag of the EOS 300D ?triggered an avalanche of sales as a new generation of consumers discovered the fun of shooting with interchangeable lenses?.
EOS stands for Electro Optical System.
