Lebanon-born photographer Walid Raad has claimed top spot in this year?s £30,000 Deutsche Börse Photography Prize.
Raad won the title for a project called The Atlas Group, which documents the contemporary history of Lebanon.
Raad beat fellow shortlisted photographers Philippe Chancel (France), Anders Petersen (Sweden) and Fiona Tan (Indonesia).
Judges awarded the prize to the photographer they felt made a ?significant contribution to the medium of photography in Europe between 1 October 2005 and 30 September 2006?.
