A highly regarded Photojournalism and Press Photography course, the future of which was thrown into doubt after government funding cuts, looks to have been saved.

However, students will have to pay the entire course fee of £3,600 where, previously, they only paid part of the cost, £1,500.

Andrew Cropley, principal of Norton College in Sheffield said: ‘The college has received sufficient interest from prospective students to justify recruiting a new tutor.

‘We are advertising the post this month. The course is due to start in November once a suitably skilled and qualified lecturer has been appointed.’

The course’s former leader, Paul Delmar, has left the college.
