Bob’s image, called ‘Day Trippers’, scooped first place in the Society category of a contest run by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
Bob was presented with a £250 prize and a trophy by David Willetts MP, Minister of State for Universities and Science, at a ceremony in London.
Entrants were tasked with capturing, in a single image, ‘the meaning of social sciences and society today’.
Bob said he shot the winning photo on Bournemouth Pier using a Nikon D3100 DSLR.
The Portraits of Britain contest pulled in more than 450 entries.
The ESRC, which funds research on economic and social issues, organised the contest to mark the 10th anniversary of the Festival of Social Science.
