First announced on 25 June, the new firmware is
principally concerned with improving the focusing abilities of both cameras.

The latest announcement states that the firmware
update will now also improve the focus detection algorithm to provide more
accurate focus precision for low-contrast subjects and scenes containing
horizontal stripes.

The update will also include improved AF speed
on most current XF lenses, the addition of a ‘Focus Peak Highlight’ function
that assists manual focusing by enhancing a subject’s outline in high contrast,
a simplified method of changing magnification during manual focus, and improved
OIS when recording video.

This will be firmware Ver. 3.00 for the X-Pro1
and Ver. 2.00 for the XE-1. The firm also recommends updating to Ver. 3.00
firmware for XF lenses.
