Jacobs went into administration in June, resulting in the closure of its 19 stores and the loss of 158 jobs.

DSLR cameras and lenses will make up most of the £1/2m assets to be sold off, say organisers.

Among the items up for grabs will be gear from top brands such as Leica, Sony, Panasonic and Sigma.

More than 2,000 lots will feature in the five-day auction, which will be hosted by business advisory firm Jones Lang LaSalle on behalf of Jacob’s administrator, PKF.

The auction is due to begin at 10am on 28 August, and close at 10.30am on 4 September.

All purchased items must be collected from Leicester, the city that served as the base for the family-run business.

The last Jacobs branch to close was the store at London Road, Leicester, which shut down on 21 July.
