High street photographic retailer Jessops is planning a series of events to mark its 75th anniversary this year.

Next week, Jessops board of directors will host a special event at the chain?s store in New Oxford Street, London (pictured) which is expected to be attended by representatives of the UK photographic industry.

A Jessops spokeswoman told Amateur Photographer that events for customers are also being planned, but details of these have yet to be ironed out.

Jessops was founded in 1935 by Frank Jessop who opened a photography shop in Leicester.

In 1996 the company was sold to a management buyout team led by Tim Brookes, following the retirement of Alan Jessop.

The business was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2004.

Earlier this year Jessops moved to reassure customers that the firm’s de-listing from the London Stock Exchange would have no impact on its high street shops.

The move followed a £34m rescue deal with Jessops? bank, HSBC, in 2009.
