Jessops intends to announce the name of its new chief executive within weeks, Amateur Photographer magazine has learnt.

The new appointment will come more than three months after former CEO Chris Langley and finance director Ian Harris announced plans to leave the company.

A Jessops spokeswoman told us: ?We are making good progress with recruiting for both positions of CEO and FD.?

She added ?We hope to be in a position to make announcements in the coming weeks but we can?t comment further at this time.?

Chris Langley remained at the group until the end of November to help the board plan for the crucial Christmas trading period, results of which were announced earlier today.

However, Jessops declined to comment on a report in the Daily Telegraph, dated 29 December 2007, which stated that Nigel Robertson, the outgoing chief executive of toy and babywear retailer, Early Learning Centre, was on the CEO shortlist.

The Daily Telegraph report added that Nick Wood, the former UK chief executive of Regus, an office services company, was also in the shortlist for the chief executive role.
