Join AP Editor Damien Demolder for lunch and a day of photography at Lacock Abbey, home of Henry William Fox Talbot, the father of British Photography.
Set in rural Wiltshire, Lacock Village, famous for its picturesque streets and historic buildings, dates back to the 13th-century and remains largely unchanged over the centuries. The National Trust describes it as a ‘charming rural village untouched by modern development’.
The Abbey, located at the heart of the village within its own woodland grounds, is a quirky country house of various architectural styles encompassing over 750 years of history.
The Fox Talbot Museum houses the cameras and equipment Talbot used in the development of the Calotype process in the 1840’s.
Talbot?s wide use of photography, creating landscapes, architectural studies, still lifes, portraits, and well composed scenes, defined the art of photography.
You will be able to see the objects he photographed, his publications and some of his personal items, as well as the famous lattice window used as the subject of his first negative.

A two-course lunch will be included at the ‘Sign of the Angel’, a 15th century Inn nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Lacock, known for it’s wonderful English home cooking.
After which we will return to the Abbey to capture the architectural wonders of the building itself and the delightful Wiltshire countryside that surrounds it.

The photography day is for up to 48 readers only. In the event that there are not enough bookings, the event will be cancelled until further botice and all monies paid will be refunded. Price includes a photographic day with the editor, entry to Lacock Abbey and the Fox Talbot Museum, demonstrations, facilities, a two-course lunch at The Sign Of The Angel Inn and light refreshments.
Photos are allowed to be taken inside the Abbey but without the use of Tripods due to space restrictions. You can however use a Monopod and are welcome to use a Tripod on the Abbey grounds outside.
