Annie Leibovitz’s UK agent has not been instructed to stop selling the photographer’s pictures despite newspaper claims that Leibovitz has handed copyright to an ‘art pawn shop’ in exchange for a ‘£10m’ loan.

Reports suggest that the renowned portrait photographer has sold rights in her images to Art Capital, which based in New York.

Leibovitz is represented in the UK by Neil Burgess, founder of London-based nbpictures.

He said that Leibovitz had not been in touch following reports that she sold copyright in her negatives and contract rights to pay off a large mortgage debt.

Burgess, who was not able to confirm or deny the stories, told Amateur Photographer: ‘I am sure she won’t be making any public comment about it.’

He added: ‘We will continue to sell Annie Leibovitz pictures.’
