Leica. Free. You don’t usually hear this in the same sentence. Given the German company’s association with ‘premium quality, premium price’ it’s maybe not surprising that it hasn’t made a big song and dance about offering the Pro version of its Fotos app for free.

Fotos for iOS and Android has been around for a few years, with the free version enabling you to remotely fire your Leica’s shutter, adjust basic settings, view and share images and carry out simple post processing.

The Pro version which up until recently required you to shell out $70 (just over £52) a year, further enabled you to transfer raw files as well as JPEGs, control the camera’s video mode, integrate with Lightroom and hook up your iPad.
