The Queen’s lawyers have this afternoon steadfastly refused to comment on press reports that Kate Middleton is suing a photographer and picture agency over unauthorised photos of her playing tennis.

‘We are not issuing a statement. We are not issuing any comment and I am not able to discuss anything with you,’ a spokeswoman for solicitors Harbottle & Lewis told Amateur Photographer when we called to verify the basic tenor of the reported legal action.

Earlier today we reported that a photographer is facing legal action for invasion of privacy after allegedly taking a photo of Prince William’s girlfriend playing tennis in Cornwall on Christmas Day.

It is understood that the photographer, who has not been named, was on a public footpath at the time.

Rex Features, the photographer’s agency which is also reportedly being sued, has also failed to respond to our request for comment.
