The National Media Museum has neither confirmed nor denied fresh press reports claiming that it is preparing to open a base at London’s Science Museum.

As first revealed in Amateur Photographer (AP) nearly two years ago the NMM plans to open a base at London’s Science Museum – enabling it to exhibit, not only photographs, but photographic equipment.

Speaking today, a spokeswoman for the museum, which is based in West Yorkshire, told AP that the NMM is yet to win government backing for the plan.

She added: ‘Meanwhile, work on the project continues and we have recently advertised a role to develop and deliver world-class exhibitions for the National Media Museum brand.

‘A lot of work has been done on the project and we hope to be making an announcement as soon as we are in a position to do so, which we anticipate will be later this year.’
