Nikon (Switzerland) AG has confirmed that it is being investigated by the country?s competition watchdog.

The news was confirmed in a statement released to Amateur Photographer this afternoon following a press report that the Swiss Competition Commission has launched a probe into anti-competitive practice.

Confirming that a formal investigation is underway, a Nikon Europe spokesman told us that the Commission has taken documents and data from the firm?s head office in Egg.

However, she stressed that Nikon Switzerland is ?cooperating in full? with the investigation.

Earlier this week, the Associated Press reported that the watchdog has searched ‘a home’ in a bid to find out whether the company has prevented other companies from importing some of its photo products.

Nikon Europe said that it would not comment further until the Commission has produced its ?formal case file?, expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
