Nikon UK has today increased the price of its D3X professional digital SLR camera by £500 ? a rise of 9% on its official launch price announced just before Christmas.

The price hike is part of increases across the entire Nikon range which the firm blamed on ?volatile exchange rate conditions?.

The D3X camera now costs £5,999.99 (body only) compared to a price of £5,499.99 announced in December.

From today the Nikon D700 camera costs £2,099.99, £100 more than its launch price last July when it was hailed as an ?affordable? full-frame model.
