For the first time a digital camera has been used to capture the official portrait of a United States president, according to the office of President-elect Barack Obama.
White House photographer Pete Souza captured the image on 13 January using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II digital SLR camera.
Details of the model of camera used were revealed in the image?s Exif file data.
Souza used a lens focal length of 105mm, an aperture of f/10 and equivalent ISO sensitivity of ISO 100.
The camera Souza used has attracted headlines in photographic circles over recent weeks.
Earlier this month Canon was forced to issue a firmware update for its EOS 5D Mark II. The update was designed to ‘improve and mitigate’ a ‘black dot’ problem in images taken with the camera.
Canon was called on to investigate reports of black dots appearing next to the highlights of long exposure images taken on the EOS 5D Mark II.
