Olympic gold medallist Chris Hoy has today launched a competition for press photographers.
The 2008 First ScotRail Press Photography Awards is open to staff, freelance, trainee and student photographers across Scotland.
?While my prowess is on the sprint cycling track, I admire photographers who have the ability to capture a magical or defining moment through their lens,? said Hoy, who is a leading contender for the BBC?s Sports Personality of the Year awards this weekend.
The competition boasts a £4,500 prize pot and categories including news, features and sport.
Last year the photo contest pulled in more than 3,000 entries.
The closing date for entries is 14 January 2009.
