LAS VEGAS ? Olympus, which reportedly is suing 10 former executives alleged to have played roles in a £1.1 billion financial cover-up, is attending the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) despite the crisis.
Olympus Imaging America is listed on page 237 of the official exhibitor directory for CES, an annual gadget fest which opens tomorrow.
Olympus representatives will be based in the North Hall meeting room at the Las Vegas Convention Centre for a show expected to attract 140,000 attendees over four days.
Meanwhile, Olympus has filed lawsuits against former directors including ex-chairman Tsuyoshi Kikukawa, reports the Japan Times, quoting papers filed at the Tokyo District Court.
Last week, British whistleblower Michael Woodford, who exposed the massive accounting scandal, gave up his battle to return as CEO – a post from which he was sensationally sacked after confronting fellow directors about suspicious takeover deals in October 2011.
Woodford is now understood to be suing Olympus for unfair dismissal.
Olympus Japan was not available for comment on the reported lawsuits against its former executives, at the time of writing.
