Olympus have this morning announced three new Pen Cameras: the E-P3, E-PL3 (Lite), and E-PM1 (Mini) promising the fastest AF in any interchangeable lens camera.
The three new Olympus Pen models, the E-P3, Pen Lite and Pen Mini all feature the same internal specifications. The new 12.3MP Live MOS sensor features a doubled signal output, and an ISO range of 200-12,800. The AF is also aided by an AF illuminator lamp, full-time AF setting for continuous shooting and enhanced subject tracking. The processor is a dual TruePic VI unit with Fine Detail Processing (from the E-5), full HD movie capture in AVCHD format and improved noise reduction.
On the outside the flagship E-P3 features a removable and interchangeable grip and an internal flash. The rear 3in LCD is touchscreen allowing for focus and shutter control by touch.
The E-PL3, or Pen Lite features the same internal specification but a slimmer body with less buttons. Instead of a touchscreen it features a swivel 3in LCD for waist and overhead viewing.
The Pen Mini, or E-PM1, is the entry level model of the three with a small simple body, live guide control and comes in a choice of colours.
