A photograph shot using a Panasonic DMC-LX3 has become the six billionth (6,000, 000, 000) to be posted on image sharing website Flickr.
The photo ? depicting a Montbretia flower ? was uploaded by Flickr user eon60, who was attracted by its ?colour and shape?.
Flickr members upload more than 2,500 images per minute.
One billion images have been added in the past 11 months alone.
?I use two cameras, a Nikon D70 and a Panasonic LX3, and have been taking photographs as a hobby for about 40 years,? said eon60, a photography enthusiast who has been using Flickr for four years.
?As you can see from my postings there is no one thing I like to photograph, anything goes.
?I also enjoy looking at other people?s efforts on Flickr, some are stunning.?
A Flickr spokeswoman said: ?Over the past few years Flickr has seen consistent growth, with uploads increasing over 20% year-on-year, as we provide users with an amazing photo-sharing experience that is truly unique to Flickr.?
