So, if you are the next weasel-on-woodpecker photographer or have a penchant for starling-shaped murmuration photos, then now may be a good time to show what you can do.
The contest is being organised by the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT).
The Julian Gardner Award, now in its fourth year, features two categories: adult, and 16-and-under.
Judges will include wildlife photographer Laurie Campbell.
‘Sometimes, the most amazing photographs are relatively simple, portraying an incredible landscape or spectacular individual species in its natural environment, allowing nature to show itself,’ said Peter Thompson, an advisor to GWCT and one of the judges.

Last year’s competition was won by Shaun Barrow from Barnstaple in Devon, while Mairi Eyres from Llangedwyn, Wales, triumphed in the 16-and-under category.
Trophies will be presented to the winners, along with a framed print of their winning image.
The closing date is 31 May 2015.
The award is named after Sussex farmer Julian Gardner, a supporter of GWCT, who died in 2010.
