The UK’s Landscape Photographer of the Year has been named as Gary Eastwood who entered the competition with a picture of his dog, Barney.
Gary, a professional photographer from East Sussex, beat thousands of entries to land the top prize of £10,000 cash.
Amateur Photographer has learnt that he is a freelance who was bitten by the ?photography bug? just three years ago.
?I am over the moon,? said Gary who told us that he captured the winning image using a Canon EOS 5D digital SLR and 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens.
The image was shot at an aperture of f/8, shutter speed of 1/50sec, using an equivalent ISO of 200.
It shows Gary’s three-year-old pet on the seafront in Hove.
The photo will star in a free exhibition at the National Theatre in London from 18 November 2008-17 January 2009.
