A photographer has won a national portraiture title on his first time of entering a competition.

Paul Wilkinson from Buckinghamshire scooped the UK Parent and Child Photographer of the year award in a competition hosted by the British Press Photographers? Association (BPPA).

The winning image, a black & white shot, struck judges for its ?highly unusual? quality ? mainly showing the back of heads.

?I?m still reeling ? it?s all a bit surreal,? said Paul. ?My grandad first gave me a camera when I was seven and I couldn?t put it down. I have just turned 40 but at heart I am still that seven-year-old with a burning passion for taking pictures.?
