A surfer catching the perfect wave, a yacht sailing into the sunset or a rugged image of a fisherman. Whatever the maritime subject the image could be in with a chance of snapping up £2,500 in a contest organised by Amateur Photographer (AP) in conjunction with Old Pulteney Single Malt Scotch Whisky and the Sunday Express newspaper.

Judges say they are looking for high-quality, creative photographs that ‘encapsulate Britain’s coastal landscape’ and have a story to tell.

In addition to being published in the Sunday Express and AP, the winning image will be turned into a postcard that will go on sale around the UK.

The victor will also bag a trip to the Pulteney Distillery in Wick, Scotland and see their image showcased at the National Maritime Museum. It will also be displayed on the VisitBritain and BritainOnView websites.

To be eligible, entrants must earn no more than 10% of their total annual income from photography.

The closing date is 11 January 2009.

Entries should be emailed to competition@burtgreener.co.uk or posted to Wish You Were Here, Burt Greener, 6th Floor, 41 St Vincent Place, Glasgow G1 2ER. For details call Ines Krieghofer on 0141 248 6007.
