Open to photographers nationwide, Twenty Four Hours in Bristol boasts £8,000 in prizes and will kick off at midnight on 18 October.

Organisers of the project – run in association with Amateur Photographer – will randomly allocate entrants a one-hour time slot in which to take at least one image capturing the ‘essence of life in the city’.

Entrants will then be allowed to submit up to five more photos.

An exhibition of the best 100 images will be held at the Guildhall Arts Centre in Bristol from 9 November.
