Photographers are gearing up to take part in a worldwide project to mark 63 years to the day since scientists first captured a photo of Earth from space.

The Australia-based organisers of ‘One Click One Pic’ hope that people from around the globe will play a part by taking a photo on 24 October 2009.

The plan is for photographers to capture a ‘single moment in time’ by taking a picture at 8.00am on 24 October (Queensland, Australia time). In the UK that is 11pm tonight (23 October).

Organisers say they plan to publish the resulting images in a book and on a DVD.
