The author of a new James Bond book last night quipped that research for Carte Blanche did not include taking photographs outside the London headquarters of Britain?s security services.
American thriller writer Jeffery Deaver said that if he had been spotted outside MI5?s base at Thames House in Millbank, or MI6?s HQ at nearby Vauxhall Cross, he ?wouldn?t be here today?.
Deaver was speaking at an event in central London about his new novel which was published yesterday.
In 2009, two amateur photographers hoping to snap night-time shots near the River Thames were stopped by armed police near MI6 (pictured below).
Six officers swooped on the pair when they were seen taking pictures near the building, which lies on the south bank of the river.
Six months later, three armed officers quizzed a tourist after he was seen using a camcorder outside a block of flats next to the same building.
