Buckingham Palace has confirmed it is up to Prince William to choose the photographer for his marriage to Kate Middleton on 29 April 2011.

Sir Geoffrey Shakerley ? brother-in-law to the late Lord Lichfield – was chosen to photograph the wedding of Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones in June 1999.

The official photographer for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is not likely to be chosen until after Christmas, according to Buckingham Palace.

However, a palace spokeswoman told us there is a chance the royal wedding photographer would be named before the festive season.

The spokeswoman confirmed to Amateur Photographer this afternoon: ?The photographer would be of Prince William?s choosing.?

After photographing the wedding of Prince Edward and Sophie, Sir Geoffrey Shakerley later admitted to digitally altering the official family picture, substituting Prince Edward for another image in which he looked happier.
