Continuing its comeback into the world of b&w photography Ilford has re-introduced its 35mm b&w single-use camera onto the UK market.

The camera, which costs £7.23, is loaded with 27 exposures of Ilford HP5 Plus film – an ISO 400 emulsion claimed to be ideal for action shots, as well as more general photography.

Ilford claims the re-launch is ?in response to much demand? for the product by members of the public.

?The versatility of this single-use camera and the quality of results has made this a very popular product,? said a spokesman. ?The level of enquiries about its return has prompted us to bring it back into the fold.?

The camera boasts a 30mm lens, a shutter speed of 1/100sec and a built-in flash with a claimed range of up to ten feet?.

The pictures can be processed at high-street photo labs or by mail-order using a process-paid envelope

Ilford?s process-paid service costs £11.74 for 27 6x4in prints on Multigrade RC paper in a choice of glossy or pearl finishes. It is also possible to order 7x5in prints.

In a statement Ilford adds: ?At a time when colour images have become standard – pedestrian even – the appeal of subtle toning, mood-enhancing monochrome prints has been rekindled through all areas where imagery plays an important part of communicating a message, a memory, a style.?

The famous b&w brand was brought back to life earlier this year in a management buy-out.

Ilford Photo was formed in February after Ilford Imaging UK had gone into receivership in 2004 with the loss of more than 300 jobs ? a situation blamed at the time by the receiver on the ?considerable pressure? on the monochrome market brought about by the growth of digital imaging.
