A rare picture of the Queen wearing a pair of trousers is expected to fetch less than £60 when it goes on sale at auction on Monday.

The previously unpublished picture – which is splashed across the front page of today?s Times newspaper – is one of three in lot ?235? set to go on sale at Reeman Dansie auctioneers in Colchester.

Auctioneer James Grinter told Amateur Photographer magazine that the lot is valued at just £40-60.

Asked why it is valued at such a low figure, Grinter told us that many pieces of royal memorabilia pass through the auction house.

However, it seems the photo is poised to shatter its estimate.

The Times newspaper?s photographic archives apparently contain ?only three other images of the Queen in trousers?.

The picture belonged to a relative of the late Marchioness of Cambridge.
