The identity of the official photographer hired to photograph the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton may not be revealed until the big day itself, according to Buckingham Palace.
?I don?t know when it will be announced, or even if it will,? a spokeswoman for Buckingham Palace told Amateur Photographer this morning.
Names in the frame reportedly include Mario Testino, who took Prince William?s engagement photos, and Mary McCartney, daughter of Sir Paul.
Among the hopefuls is David Lawson, a photographer from the North East who wrote to royal officials to offer his services.
He told The Sunderland Echo: ?Royal weddings are few and far between so to take part in any way would be a massive deal.?
Lawson said he received a letter from St James?s Palace thanking him for his interest.
It reads: ?As I am sure you will appreciate, Prince William and Miss Middleton have received many similar generous offers and the Lord Chamberlain?s Office will consider them all carefully during the planning process.?
Meanwhile, press photographers have inundated the Palace with requests to cover the historic event on 29 April.
But the decision on who will be chosen will not be decided for several more weeks, according to the Palace spokeswoman.
