Professional photographers are allowed to take pictures in Red Square following a ban that has been overturned today by the Russian President, reports The Moscow Times.
The Federal Guard Service has ditched rules that prevented professional photographers capturing images on Red Square.
The rule change was ordered by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, himself a keen photographer.
Previously, any professional photographer caught taking pictures was ordered to ‘destroy them’ and was ‘escorted off Red Square’, explained The Moscow Times article.
Last month Amateur Photographer revealed that Canadian firm Corel upgraded its digital photo enhancement software after a special request from President Medvedev.
Apparently, Medvedev had discovered that his digital camera was not compatible with Corel Paint Shop Pro X2.
So, on hearing of his predicament, Corel duly obliged by upgrading its software to work with his equipment.
