Sony World Photography awards Open shortlist announced

The World Photography Organisation has announced the shortlisted winners of the Sony World Photography Awards open category for amateur photographers. Picked from a total of 51,000 entries the shortlist comprises the best from each theme of the open section. No UK photographers have been named, while Poland, Hungary and Germany are the only European nations represented. Each of the shortlisted photographers wins a Sony Alpha camera, while the overall winner, to be announced at the main Sony World Photography awards ceremony on 27 April in London?s Leicester Square, will win a prize fund of $5,000 plus more Sony DSLR kit.   • Nature & Wildlife: Andiyan Lutfi (Indonesia)
  • Panoramic: Wolfgang Weinhardt (Germany)
  • People: Raghuranjan Sarkar (India)
  • Smile: Carlos Henrique Reinesch (Brazil)
  • Travel: James Chong (Singapore)
