An AP reader from Tyne and Wear has scooped £2,500 in a maritime photography competition organised by single malt Scotch whisky maker Old Pulteney and backed by AP.
An image of Staithes Harbour by John Short beat more than 1,300 pictures in the 2006/2007 Wish You Were Here contest.
Judges praised the shot for its ?careful composition and depth of dramatic colours?.
John, from South Shields, also wins a trip to Old Pulteney?s distillery in Wick. And his winning shot is due to be turned into postcards.
Second place went to Chris Mole and third was Martin Parratt.
Now in its third year the project is designed ?celebrate Britain?s unique coastline and revive its unique tradition of seaside postcards?.
This year?s contest was backed by organisation?s including the National Maritime Museum and the RNLI.
? More details will appear in an upcoming issue of AP, in UK shops each Tuesday.
