Peter Lindbergh?s portrait of Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Tatjana Patitz has been sold to an anonymous buyer at auction for £54,000.
Shot in New York the picture appeared in British Vogue magazine in 1987 and had been expected to raise £20,000-30,000.
Meanwhile, Lindbergh?s 1994 image of model Kate Moss almost doubled its top estimate when it went under the hammer for £28,800.
Christie?s Photographs auction, which took place yesterday, raised a total of £1.38m.
