Output surpassed two million units in October, marking an increase of around 42.5% in both volume and value terms compared to the same month last year.
Lens production shot up more than 22%.
However, production of fixed-lens compact cameras nose-dived 30.5% over the same period.
Though the total number of digital still cameras leaving the
factories of CIPA members fell 21.8%, market value only dropped by 4.1%.
The number of interchangeable-lens cameras shipped to Europe grew 36.5%, while shipments to the domestic, Japanese market, remained around the same as a year earlier.
Meanwhile, shipments to the American markets rocketed by nearly 50%.
CIPA members include Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Sony, Panasonic and Fujifilm.
