Canon has been forced to halt production at ‘two’ inkjet printer factories in Thailand after flooding hit the country.
Canon has confirmed that the plants, in Ayutthaya Province, will be closed until at least tomorrow when bosses will re-assess the situation.
In a statement released to Amateur Photographer Canon said: ?Canon Hi-Tech (Thailand) Ltd which produces inkjet printer products has two factories in Ayutthaya (one in Rojana Industrial Estate and one in the Hi-Tech Industrial Estate), both of which have been affected by the flooding.
?The Rojana factory has suffered flooding inside the facility.
‘The Hi-Tech Industrial Estate in which the first factory is located is surrounded by an embankment which has prevented the estate being flooded.
?But due to an excessive amount of surrounding water, access to the factory is currently not possible.
?Both factories will be closed until Friday 14 October. Beyond that we will decide what action to take, based on conditions at the time.?
Established in August 1990, Canon Hi-Tech (Thailand) Ltd employs around 10,000 staff.
